Value of Hester and Olsen will decline

Seven months before the start of the 2010 season, someone is predicting that the addition of Mike Martz as the Chicago Bears new offensive coordinator will cause the value of Greg Olsen and Devin Hester to decline.

Martz has said that he will use Hester in the slot and reduce his offensive snaps so he can focus more on being a return specialist. As for Olsen, Martz suggested that one of Olsen’s main roles in the offense will be as a blocker.

“All tight ends, their first responsibility, they have to put their hand down on the line of scrimmage and be a successful blocker, and then they move to receiving,” Martz said. “To just skip by that and say, ‘He’s a terrific receiver,’ well, then you might as well just put another wide receiver in there.”

Well some other players in Bears jerseys could get benefit from Martz’s pass-laden system. These fortunate players include quarterback Jay Cutler, wide receivers Devin Aromashodu and Johnny Knox.

Vikings quarterbacks coach is looking for job elsewhere

After working with Brett Favre for one season in Minnesota, the Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers is now busy with interviews for new job. He had an interview with the Chicago Bears yesterday, and there have been rumors that he will also have interviews at Virginia and Syracuse for offensive coordinator jobs.

According to Rogers himself, he would like to have the job in Virginia, where his home is. And Syracuse is not a bad place to go, too. He used to work there and worked with a current star quarterback in No. 5 Philadelphia Eagles jersey- Donovan McNabb. But Virginia remains the No. 1 choice.

"There’s no place I’d rather live than back (in Virginia)," Rogers told reporters Monday. "I’m home there. I went to college there. I coached at William & Mary. I coached in Virginia Beach (Bayside High). I coached at Tech. The largest portion of my football career was spent in that state. As you get older, things you might have jumped at when you were a younger coach, you have to evaluate a little more now."

I guess his wish will come to true. Favre had one of the best seasons of his career at the age of 40 and the achievements should partly be attributed to Rogers’ work.

Bears DT Dvoracek will undergo arthroscopic surgery on right knee

Chicago Bears defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek is known as an oft-injured player. He was again inured in Saturday night’s 17-3 preseason victory over the Giants. An arthroscopic surgery thus will be performed Friday on his right knee.

It was reported that Dvoracek tore the anterior cruciate ligament, in the Saturday game, but Coach Lovie Smith said it was no more than a sprain and expected that Dvoracek would be able to play soon.

Unfortunate Dvoracek has had three seasons of being put on injured reserve and playing only 13 games totally in the three seasons. He should pray to fully recover before Sept. 5 when the final roster cut down to 53 players because his current contract will expire following this season.
